Where's My Bag: RV Entrepreneur Summit at Lake Guntersville, Alabama

Our “Where’s My Bag?” series highlights Clark & Mayfield handbags in interesting locations around the world. This is a guest post by Michelle C. of IntentionalTravelers.com. Michelle and her husband are "digital nomads," running their business online as they travel. Michelle's latest trip companion is the new Reed laptop travel backpack.

Lake Guntersville, AL

Northern Alabama may not be where you typically think to find breathtaking sunsets over endless lakes. But Lake Guntersville, Alabama's largest lake, is a State Park for a reason. The 69,000 acres of water are graced with a full-service lodge, perched above on a hill, and a large, lake-side campground.

It's been a popular vacation spot ever since the boom of nearby Huntsville, Alabama, a hub for tech and research companies.

Why We Went

Our friends hired us to help run their third annual RV Entrepreneur Summit at Lake Guntersville State Park. The RVE Summit is for entrepreneurs and remote workers who travel around the country in an RV or motorhome. Many of the individuals and families are "full-timers", having made the RV their year-round home, complete with desks and mobile hotspots. Others were in the process of selling homes and becoming nomadic, while still others ran their businesses from a "sticks and bricks" house and took an RV out for vacations.

Attendees stayed in the lakeside campground or in the beautiful State Park lodge where workshops and main stage presentations were also hosted. Sessions included Married to Business, Secrets of Successful Nomad Bloggers, Creating Passive Income Through Real Estate, and several participant-led RV tours.

As digital nomads who don't live out of an RV, it was especially fun to tour the different RVs. There was also a coworking space set up at the campground. I brought my laptop over there in my new Clark & Mayfield backpack to do some work when we weren't busy with event preparations.

All in all, it was a fun event and great community to work with. If you're ever in Alabama, definitely check out the hidden gem of Lake Guntersville State Park!
