Jamaica

Jamaica is a country very close to my heart. My husband and I lived in rural Jamaica for two years as Peace Corps Volunteers from 2012 to 2014, and we made a return visit just seven months after we completed our term of service. 

There are two very different sides to this country and, unfortunately, it's difficult to get an authentic experience when staying in the resort areas. For the independent traveler, it's important to be well-informed in order to have a safe and enriching trip. If you're up for the extra effort and diligence, the beautiful colors, vibrant culture, and gregarious people of Jamaica will captivate you!
