WHERE'S MY BAG: PISA, ITALY

Our “Where’s My Bag?” series highlights Clark & Mayfield handbags in interesting locations around the world. This is a guest post by Michelle C. of IntentionalTravelers.com. Michelle and her husband are "digital nomads," running their business online as they travel. Michelle's latest trip companion is the Corbett laptop backpack in cocoa cork.
Pisa, Italy
Pisa is perhaps most famous for its leaning tower. This attraction draws tourists from all over the world to this historic city on Tuscany's coast.
Pisa, a port city, was once a powerhouse of trade for the region and is full of churches, medieval palaces, piazzas, and fortresses. Its archeological ruins date all the way back to the fifth century B.C.
Why We Went
In the past, we have flown into Pisa in order to reach Florence. This time, during a return to our help exchange with a Tuscany cooking class, we were able to take day trip to Pisa to really explore.
As a college student, I remember being underwhelmed by the leaning tower of Pisa, thinking it would be much bigger in real life. However, this time around, my husband and I both found an appreciation for the beautiful architecture throughout the whole complex (which includes a cathedral and baptistry).
We spent the day exploring on foot. One of our favorite discoveries was a former fortress that had been turned into a city park. It had an amphitheater, places to lounge or enjoy a picnic, walking paths, and a playground. It felt like we had found a secret garden!
